Going Out In Stockholm (Everything You Need To Know)
Video subtitles: Going Out In Stockholm (Everything You Need To Know)
00:00
so you're coming to Stockholm and you
00:01
want a party well in that case you came
00:03
to the right video because we're gonna
00:05
talk all about some of the best clubs
00:07
and best places for nightlife in this
00:09
beautiful Swedish capital but before we
00:11
go any further I want to say this is
00:13
gonna talk a little bit more about clubs
00:15
and if you want to go out dancing and
00:17
doing those late-night activities not as
00:18
much bars more of the club scene we'll
00:21
talk a little bit about some bars that
00:22
are popular as well but mostly this is
00:25
about clubs and clubbing in general and
00:27
Stockholm without being said let's jump
00:29
right into this video so you guys know
00:31
we're gonna have a good time when you
00:33
hear in this suit
00:34
[Music]
00:40
[Music]
00:50
now I think a natural starting place for
00:53
this video is to start with stirrup lon
00:55
syrup lawn is kind of the major clubbing
00:58
area I would say of a city it's right in
01:00
the heart
01:01
really towards the center if you take
01:03
first your mom it's more of a wealthy
01:05
area it's like right in the heart of
01:07
that and stirrup lawn it's known for
01:08
being very posh very upscale so if
01:12
that's not your typical crowd stirrup la
01:14
may not be the place for you it can be a
01:16
little bit expensive they do want you to
01:18
dress a little bit nicer when you're
01:20
going out to a stirrup LAN clubs but
01:22
that is what I think of when I think of
01:23
clubbing and stock on those the first
01:25
clubs that I went to with my Swedish
01:27
friends when I first came to Stockholm
01:29
and they are a very very good time but
01:31
some people don't always have the best
01:33
experience if you look on Google reviews
01:35
and Yelp reviews a lot of these clubs
01:37
have one or two stars on the reviews and
01:40
I think that's just because stuff is
01:42
very expensive a lot of times the guards
01:45
can be they have to be rough they don't
01:47
really let everybody in out of all these
01:49
clubs it's impossible to get in unless
01:51
you are on a guest list which you can
01:52
sign up through an app you can always
01:55
download the stirrup LAN app on your
01:57
phone and try to get on the guest list
01:58
for some of these parties beforehand or
02:00
if you know somebody because I've got a
02:01
large group of Swedish friends here
02:03
usually I notice somebody who's on the
02:05
list and then we're able to get into
02:07
these clubs but it's not always super
02:09
easy like one time I went out on a
02:11
Wednesday night with just one other
02:13
person and we didn't really have the
02:14
plan of going to the clubs but we ended
02:16
up at the clubs anyway and because we
02:19
hadn't gotten on any of the lists
02:20
beforehand it wasn't easy eventually we
02:22
found a club that would let us in but
02:24
even on a Wednesday night you needed to
02:26
be on the guest list to go to some of
02:27
the primary places in that stirrup LAN
02:30
area and again there can be long lines
02:31
and long waits to get end you do want to
02:33
dress nice especially if you're going
02:35
out in this part of town typical entry
02:37
to get in at some of these clubs now
02:38
depending on the guest list in the
02:40
situation sometimes we get them for free
02:41
if you're on the list but sometimes they
02:43
will make you pay and this could be like
02:44
200 crowns so like 20 bucks just the
02:47
entrance to get in and then when you get
02:49
inside drinks are gonna be very very
02:51
expensive it's not uncommon to find
02:53
those beers costing 8 or 9 dollars and
02:55
then if you want like vodka redbulls
02:58
or any
02:59
kind of hard drinks you're looking at
03:00
like more than $10 in almost every case
03:03
even close to $20 in a lot of cases for
03:06
these drinks in the stirrup LAN area one
03:08
of the perks of stirrup LAN is they do
03:09
have some clubs that are open late until
03:11
5:00 a.m. whereas most of the other
03:13
clubs in Stockholm closed at 3:00 a.m.
03:15
so for people that want that real late
03:17
night action there are some great clubs
03:20
and stirrup lon that are actually open
03:21
till 5:00 and coming from America we
03:23
never really partied that late even in
03:25
college I was in a fraternity in college
03:26
and people would usually stop partying
03:29
like between two or three maybe there'd
03:31
be some after parties but here in in
03:33
Stockholm the clubs are absolutely
03:35
packed especially some of those late
03:36
nights threw upon ones all the way up
03:38
until 5:00 a.m. which is absolutely
03:40
insane to me
03:41
I remember when Lynn was an American
03:42
we'd go out together and then we'd leave
03:43
a party at like 1:00 a.m. and she's like
03:45
why are we leaving the party at 1:00
03:47
a.m.
03:47
usually this is like when we go to the
03:49
clubs in Stockholm and I was like what
03:51
the heck are you too cool for the
03:53
parties in America what do you mean you
03:54
go to the clubs at 1:00 a.m. and I never
03:55
really understood it because I think the
03:57
alcohol is so expensive when you go out
04:00
here in Stockholm a lot of Swedes they
04:02
will do the drinking and the pre
04:03
partying and that'll be kind of a main
04:05
function before they go out because if
04:07
you go to the club sober you're gonna
04:09
end up spending way more money than you
04:11
actually have to so that is a pro tip if
04:13
you want a party you want to go out in
04:14
Stockholm have some free drinks or have
04:16
some pre party plans before before you
04:19
go out and blow a bunch of money at some
04:22
of the more expensive clubs the main
04:24
party nights in Sweden are Fridays and
04:26
Saturdays I would say that Saturday's is
04:27
much bigger than Fridays whereas in
04:29
America I think Fridays and Saturdays
04:31
might be on the same level a little bit
04:33
I definitely see a lot more people in
04:35
Sweden going out on Saturdays than
04:36
Fridays and then also in Sweden they
04:38
call Wednesday's little Saturdays so
04:41
Wednesday is like the midweek it's kind
04:43
of known as a weekday party night I mean
04:47
it's still less than Fridays and
04:48
Saturdays but if there was one night or
04:50
the week that the clubs are gonna be
04:51
open there's gonna be some people going
04:53
it's gonna be on Wednesday nights
04:55
whereas in America I would say Thursday
04:57
is probably a bigger party night than
04:59
Wednesday is in college we would say
05:01
thirsty Thursdays
05:02
whereas in Sweden I think Wednesday has
05:04
more of that weekday stigma for being a
05:07
party day now if you're looking for some
05:08
recommendations of clubs to go out to in
05:10
stir
05:11
blonde i really likes through a company
05:13
at a house kitchen they're one in the
05:14
same company they're in the same
05:16
building sort of thing but Hell's
05:17
Kitchen is open till 5:00 and through
05:19
our company is open till 3:00 and
05:20
because my friends usually like to go
05:22
out late we usually try to get into
05:24
Hell's Kitchen because you have an extra
05:26
two hours at Hell's Kitchen and it's a
05:27
lot of fun if you're coming with a lot
05:29
of friends it's probably gonna be a lot
05:30
of fun wherever you go this is just a
05:32
place where I've made the most memories
05:33
and the place where I've gone out the
05:34
most okay now that we've covered the
05:36
very expensive posh part of Stockholm
05:39
stirrup lon nightlife let's move down to
05:42
an area that is gonna be a little bit
05:43
more affordable a little bit more
05:45
laid-back you don't need to be on the
05:47
list to get into these sorts of parties
05:49
and this is gonna be one of my favorite
05:51
neighborhoods in Stockholm sutter mom
05:52
now sutter mom is that southern island
05:55
that's still in the center of Stockholm
05:57
and it's known for a much more laid-back
05:59
vibe than the more posh strip lon and
06:01
here in Sutter mom you can find beers
06:03
for three or four dollars and a lot of
06:05
bars there's two subway stations on the
06:08
Green Line
06:08
there's listen and Medway up lots in and
06:11
that Street between those two subway
06:13
stations is just lined with bars where
06:16
you can drink very very cheaply so if
06:18
you are gonna go out for stir applaud
06:20
and you want a very amazing night I
06:21
would almost recommend if you don't want
06:24
a pre-party at home maybe pre-party it's
06:26
our mom and you can get those three or
06:28
four dollar beers at some of those bars
06:29
in a more relaxed environment before you
06:32
go out to the clubs and stirrup lon
06:34
now soda mom itself is a pretty big
06:36
island I think it is the biggest island
06:38
in that Stockholm archipelago of islands
06:40
that makes up the city and basically
06:42
there's little pockets of good bars and
06:44
restaurants all over soda mom horns toll
06:47
is another area where there's some good
06:49
bars and restaurants and then if you go
06:50
down to scones toll it's the same thing
06:53
pretty much all over Sutter mom you can
06:55
find some really cool places to go out
06:57
and if you go just south of Sutter mom
06:59
and you see the big Stockholm globe
07:01
that's where some of their soccer teams
07:02
here
07:03
hammer be for example they play their
07:06
football matches in that globe there are
07:09
some very very cool clubs by that globe
07:11
for example slack to sit the entry is
07:14
maybe going to be like 100 crowns on a
07:15
normal night unless it's a special night
07:18
but slack to sit it's kind of a weird
07:20
name for a club the direct translation
07:21
English would be slaughterhouse
07:24
but it's kind of a interesting
07:26
environment because they've got
07:27
downstairs where they'll play a lot of
07:28
hip-hop and then in the summertime it's
07:31
a very nice open area upstairs so you
07:34
can party underneath the stars it's more
07:36
of that outdoor vibes and if you do like
07:38
partying outside I would say one of my
07:40
absolute favorite places to go out is
07:42
under bronan or Trey Gordon there's
07:44
basically this massive Club slash bar
07:47
underneath the bridge between soda mom
07:49
and where the globe stadium is and
07:52
there's tons of different dance floors
07:54
this was actually one of the first
07:56
places that I ever went out in Stockholm
07:58
on one of my first visits we went out
08:00
and it was kind of shocking for me at
08:01
first because the prices at this trade
08:04
Gordon place were for me going out in
08:07
Stockholm for the first time I was kind
08:08
of just mind blown because I think the
08:11
entrance there was like 250 crowns when
08:14
I land I'm going $25 just to get in this
08:18
was absolutely crazy to me and then when
08:21
you get in the drinks aren't exactly
08:23
cheap either without being said if
08:25
you're not afraid to spend money and
08:26
have a good time I think that that place
08:28
is really really cool especially in the
08:31
summertime just be warned that it's
08:33
definitely not cheap so in my mind if
08:35
you want to go out in Stockholm
08:36
sodermalm and strip lon are two of the
08:38
best areas to do it and that's pretty
08:40
much what we've talked about so far but
08:41
just to round it out there are little
08:43
pockets in little places outside of
08:46
those two areas that are still cool for
08:47
example comes Holman Coleman is a part
08:49
of Stockholm that's generally a little
08:51
bit more laid-back some people would
08:53
compare it to New York's Upper East Side
08:55
it's more of a mellow vibe but they do
08:57
have some bars that are kind of fun if
09:00
you just want more of a relaxing bar but
09:03
you can still go out and dance most
09:04
sorts of things lemon bar would be an
09:06
example of that and then also gamla ston
09:09
the old town that is a touristy area in
09:11
general but they do have some cool bars
09:13
that have a Viking bar there when they
09:15
brew like Mead and special drinks and
09:17
stuff it's kind of a touristy bar but it
09:20
can be a little bit of a fun experience
09:21
and there's lots of different bars in
09:23
gamla stan' that can be fun to explore I
09:25
just went to a karaoke night at a bar in
09:28
all the old town and that was super fun
09:30
so that would I would say the old town
09:32
is more with bars not necessarily clubs
09:35
as much and it's also kind of expensive
09:37
because it's touristy but they are still
09:40
very fun nonetheless now since we're
09:42
talking about nightlife in this video
09:43
now is the great time to mention that
09:45
this video is sponsored by atomic vibes
09:47
festival in Poland that I will be going
09:49
to July 12th to 14th now I'm super
09:52
excited for this festival for several
09:53
reasons for one it's only an hour train
09:55
ride from Berlin it is a smaller
09:57
festival about 2,000 of 2,500 people
10:00
expected this time around but one of the
10:03
cool things about this festival is that
10:04
they integrate fun activities and it's
10:07
not just the focus on drinking and
10:09
partying and stuff they will have some
10:10
of Poland's biggest DJs coming to this
10:13
festival but they also have a ton of
10:15
cool activities like a color run beach
10:17
volleyball water slides all this cool
10:20
stuff all combined in a music festival
10:22
so I'm super excited to go experience
10:24
that in addition Poland is an extremely
10:26
budget-friendly destination for example
10:29
as I was talking about beer being
10:30
extremely expensive in Sweden and you
10:32
can pay like six seven eight dollars for
10:34
a beer they actually say the average
10:35
price is five point seven five euros for
10:38
a beer in Sweden the cost of a beer in
10:40
Poland is only one and a half euros on
10:42
average so it's cheaper accommodations
10:44
cheaper all these things so if you want
10:46
a really cool experience and you don't
10:48
want to just break the bank on your
10:50
budget I would definitely recommend
10:52
coming down and checking out this
10:53
festival I'm super excited to be there
10:55
I'm bringing a bunch of my friends and
10:57
maybe I'll see you guys there as well if
10:59
you guys want to know some more about
11:00
this festival I'll put some links down
11:01
in the description so you can check them
11:03
out on Instagram you can also DM one of
11:06
the founders of this festival I'll put
11:08
his Instagram down below if you want a
11:11
group discount or something like that
11:12
they are very very accommodating and
11:15
very very fun people to work with
11:16
alright guys so that concludes my
11:18
nightlife review of Stockholm I hope you
11:21
guys found some good information in this
11:23
video if you are looking to go out and
11:25
experience this nightlife in general I
11:28
would say Stockholm is an extremely
11:29
expensive city to go out in but if you
11:32
have the right mindset and you're around
11:33
good people it's also an extremely fun
11:35
city to go out in and I have to say I go
11:38
out a lot more living in Stockholm than
11:41
I did living in Portland in the US and
11:43
has
11:43
because it is so much fun so when you
11:46
come to this city I do recommend
11:48
checking out some of of nightlife scenes
11:50
here again check out atomic vibes down
11:52
in the description super excited for
11:54
that is summer with that being said guys
11:56
thanks so much for watching and I'll see
11:58
you soon in another video
12:08
you
