Absolutely amazing club located right next to the Danube canals in central Vienna. It being underneath the road gives it an "underground" or "hidden" vibe while also giving off an alternative culture feel. It has a huge bar and you get money back if you bring back your plastic glass to the counter. It does have some machines like air hockey, table soccer and such and is pretty big so some concerts might be held here. The concert hall is on the smaller side but the sound was amazing and you feel like you came into an abandoned train station and are listening to a concert. All in all, awesome place for a night out if this is your kind of thing instead of "high class high nose" clubs you usually find in big cities.

Great music. Was a bit dead for a Saturday night but unlike other clubs I visited the crowd were proper Viennese youth. Wear ear plugs because the speaker system is loud.

However very expensive entry. We were probably spotted as tourists and asked to pay 10€ even though it said 3€ on the outside.

Water was also the same price beer which is stupid (1.5€).

The flex is the worst nightclub I've ever been to ! The music is really bad, the entrance fees is 12€ and you don't have any drink offered, it's full of drugged and drunk people, the place where you leave your bags and clothes isn't safe at all, you don't feel safe at all near and in the club... however I don't recommend this club at all, better go in the city center where you will find lots of bars and clubs that worth it.

One of my favorite bars in my home town!

Perfect in summer when the beer garden is open. Nice and calming view onto the Danube.

Music depends on the event. Charge is reasonable (5-10$).

Two different clubs (one free one with charge or concert prices).

Better for partying then for concerts! It gets warm inside quite easily.

Would recommend going on Fridays (London Calling has the best music in my opinion).

Screw people's prejudice about this place.. It's definitely one of the best and as soon as I'm back in Vienna I'm gonna be going there for sure.

The place is a complete zoo (not in a cool way).

There is an outside section where all different types of people were drinking on large wooden tables (beer garden style).

While some people were quite normal, we spotted plenty of extremely young kids getting smashed, perhaps for the first time ever. Also some punks and junkies were there.

One skinny geezer ran around stopping at tables and staring at people. Then proceeded to the next table. I don't know why the bar tolerated that.

We then read that a DJ would play indie rock in the club inside, for which we paid 6 euros. What we eventually got was dance music.

The doorman was practising roundspin kicks - a complete no-go to me.

The barstaff on the inside first seemed undermanned, but then we noticed that they were just crap. Even when there were almost no people lining up waiting times of 20 mins seemed normal.

Bottom line: don't go there.

flex is a place for young and old people to dance, kiss and take drugs. it has a big dancefloor and another rather big bar floor area filled with sofas ready for you to hang in there and relax. the soundsytem is very good, but loud... don't forget to bring some earplugs

The best electronic music in Vienna
I've been there with 2 friends, the electronic music was really cool and perfect to dance, the price was fair and the location really attractive. I advice to go if you are in Vienna looking for having fun.

An old and respectable venue still going strong, occasionally crowded with a
young and lively audience with good mood. The sound system, lighting and ventilation are quite powerful, prices are solid (entry 15 €, drinks 5 €), the bouncers are not too anal. The music is generally fast and thumpy dnb and techno, but with intricate rhythms and very danceable. A good thing is that you can smoke inside, if you don't mind being completely fumigated.

The doorman aren't honest. They have guys waiting outside the door. So be cautious ! If you say something that doesn't fit the clubs behavior, you might end up being harassed by the cousins of the doorman. Sadly this happened to me yesterday, and I've been to flex for about nine years...  (This hasn't been the case nine years ago)
Anyway, there's reasons for one star....I thought you'd be able to rate them better than this

One of my favorite clubs in vienna.
Sometimes overcrowded but i can recommend every drum and bass event in there – i love the crowd
sometimes they also got nice jungle events but it’s rare.
Prices are good for drinks.
Recommend visiting with some friends.

Description

Once alternative, now pretty mainstream, always hugely popular. Don't go to chat: the music system is famous for its quality and decibel output. DJs playing techno, house, etc. and there are occasional live acts. Garden next to the Danube Canal with a Würstelstand (hot-dog stand) in summer.
