I'd promised my other half that we'd go 'out out' after being at an event at the O2, and we ended up here. We hadn't pre-booked tickets (we'd do this in future) so we were in line waiting to be allowed in once all the ticket holders had been let in. The door staff were excellent and had a great door policy. If anyone was even slightly under the influence then they were recommended to go and get some food, sober up and return. This meant that everyone inside were there for a good time and it felt 'safe'. There's several rooms to go in once inside with different music playing. The drinks cost a small fortune (£16.70 for 2 bottles of Bud), which also deterred any drunken-ness. There was a good vibe in all areas and we certainly had a good night. The guys outside finding taxis were a godsend and we got a very reasonable fare for our trip back to the hotel. If you like you're music and don't mind our busy, this is your place!

Honestly, it's a really cool venue. The sheer size of the place means that most of the time there's at least one room playing something good. I have been several times and my experiences have varied from the best clubbing experience of my life to solidly average.

It's on the pricey side for a club with cover being around £20-£30, but compared to some of the other places out there the money can be really worth it. The only real problem I've found is that the best acts often play at around 3 am, by which time everyone's either too wrecked to know whats happening or too knackered to appreciate it. Before the headliner, the DJ's can be pretty hit and miss, but mostly still enjoyable.

Also love being able to get myself a burger without leaving.

Overall really good time, wish they'd get more consistently decent acts for the whole night, and if you get a chance definitely worth visiting even if its only once.

Went to back-to-back Friday nights at The Gallery, at the end of March 2018.

Everyone we met who worked for the club.... from the front door security team, all staff in the general areas and the VIP area and then right through to 'Colin' who helped us so much with taxis.... they were all fantastic, helpful and super-friendly.

Add to this the main reason we're there.... 'World-Class, Super-Star' DJs every, single week and it adds up to an unbeatable package.

Super8 & Tab, Kyau & Albert, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Cosmic Gate, Agnelli & Nelson, Matt Darey, Jerome Isma-ae, Orjan Nielsen.... not forgetting the superb Gavyn Mytchel.
Sounds like a dream Trance festival lineup, right?  No.... just two night's at Ministry.... where else can you get recurring lineups of this quality?

The cherry on the cake is the crowd, who in our experience are all there for the music.... no drunken idiots, no trouble, everyone up for a good time.

If you're in London and looking for a good night out, ignore the naysayers, this is still the No.1 choice.... go on, you know it makes sense ;)

Date of experience: March 2018

Club that has 3 different DJs in 3 different rooms ... and not to mention they have some of the biggest named DJs in the world as regulars.
In the U.S. We would likely pay over $50 cover charge for a club like this. Paying £25.00 was very reasonable for a club that stays open until 6:30 am. Drink prices were reasonable as well.
Do yourself a favor and check out all the rooms! To avoid the line, order tickets online and get there before 11:30.

I'm an American tourist. I was told this was absolutely the best club in all of England/London. I grew up in Miami and still frequent the clubs there. I've been to Vegas, Barcelona and New York so while not an expert in the club scene, I've seen my fair share.

Do NOT go here. This place is horrendous. It's comprised of 3-5 "separate" rooms. While they may claim to have different music in each room, they are exactly the same. Beats that are looped over and over again that will give even the most sane person a headache. Thank the heavens my friend had a pair of ear buds that squish in your ear or I'd have an aneurysm in this audio horror shack. They had a "special DJ" that night that was no different than the openers. Basically they all sounded as if took a mallet was repeatedly hit against a trash can until my ears bled.

The other patrons in this morgue-for-music-as-we-know-it can all be described as people who either don't own showers or don't feel the need to clean themselves. The pungent smell of body odor makes this place smell of a sauna at the local YMCA after they had Taco Tuesday.

Once again, avoid this place at all costs. Donate your money to a homeless person. It's going to a better cause.

Terrible
I’ve never had such a bad experience on a night out ever. Staff at the door were so arrogant it’s beyond belief. They treat people like prisoners, which is unacceptable.

Initially I was looking forward to go to the club but As soon as I got there I was extremely disappointed.

Third time visiting and just as brilliant as before
I have visited Ministry of Sound on 3 occasions now and everytime it has been an absolutely brilliant night. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the music is always on point. I was very very happy with how much bassline got played last night.

Great Night
We've been meaning to visit for a while, and weren't disappointed. Friendly door staff, no queue for entry and fast enough bar service. The sound system is really second to none. Bit of a mixed crowd, but no trouble and not overly hot/busy. Can definitely recommend, and will be back!

A great night
Let’s get the gripes out the way - yes the prices are a little high, yes *some* of the door staff are a bit blunt. Apart from that you get your well known artists in the main room (Gareth Emery was great) and up and coming talent in The Loft (impressed by DJ Dom Norwell last night). I didn’t see any trouble and didn’t wait too long to be served at the bar.

Love the pink toilets!
Pleasurable grooming experience. Don't remember much else because drinks were so good. Drinks are good, music is great.

Complete nightmare. Incredibly rude staff - you literally pay £30 to be treated like dirt, offended and molested. You are also forced to disclose personal information, which I'm pretty sure is illegal. For some reason security think they are police and can do whatever they want. Haven't experienced anything like this before and I would definitely NOT recommend. Any other place would be way better than this.

Been clubbing now 20 years and this place is one of the best clubs in the world!!! Saw the masters at work here and Frankie Knuckles turned up about 3 months before he passed away! One night to remember

Next-level sound system, good staff and very clean toilets (which is really nice for a club!) Drinks prices are obscene - £8.50 for a 330ml plastic bottle.

The sound system at Ministry of sound earns its great reputation - it’s clear and crisp - you hear the bass go through you.

The club is well laid out and is very clean.

As a DJ the booths are decent and kitted out with the latest equipment and aren’t cramped so you can easily go B2B and have space to dance.

They have a food van on site which is a nice touch if you get hungry in the night.

Drinks prices are it’s only downside. Even for London they are crazy. I would have spent more money if they were cheaper. At £7.50 to 9 for a bottle it’s simply obscene.

One of my favourite nigh clubs in London. I have been there twice, once for a neon party and another time for a bank holiday event. The neon party was absolutely amazing with perfect music and crowd. The second event was alright too, but it didn’t have the best music.

It is mostly a London (Queen Mary) college students party and if your not one of those students you’ll be in the back of the club dancing with older people. It is a great club cause they had 3 separate rooms with 3 Djs on the bottom floor and then a VIP room which you have to buy more to get into on the 2nd floor.

Great space and amazing sound system. What a night! Queues were managed well and security was present but not interfering. Music cracking and you had a choice of a few rooms. Drinks prices were on the very high side, but it's London prices and Ministry after all!

I have been djing around the world for 14 years and it is such a relief to meet an artist liaison who puts the artists needs first whilst curating the whole experience of the night. Thank you so much Kristina. It honestly means so much.

Description

Ministry of Sound first opened its doors way back in September 1991. Inspired by New York’s cavernous house venues, 103 Gaunt Street was a derelict bus garage in south London - an area that, at the time, was more infamous than famous. The first night had no alcohol, three flashing lights, moody security and, unless you knew the names of at least half-a-dozen Chicago house DJs, you were never going to get through the menacing, prison-like, gates. Despite these eccentricities, the night was a success and within a matter of weeks word had spread that something special had landed smack bang in the middle of London’s club scene. This was the first club dedicated to house music, the first club to pick up the gauntlet laid down by the second summer of love and, most importantly, the world’s first nightclub with a room built purely for exceptional sound quality. To this day, sound is still at the forefront of everything that Ministry of Sound stands for. As it helped spread dance music’s popularity around the world, you can experience the essence of what Ministry of Sound does but there’s nothing quite like standing in the middle of the club’s main room, The Box, and hearing the award winning soundsystem in full swing.
