So in comparison to a London club it can hold its own in terms of music choice however I wouldn’t reccomend it if your looking for somewhere where you will be treated like a local and not judged for wanting to have a good time. The dancers were good and entertained the crowd but didn’t get them involved!! When they eventually did; they got your stereotypical girl involved no flavour no variety to spice it up.
This club has potential to become a very well known place!! The highlight of the evening was the bartender introducing me to to new drinks. The dancers were good but didn’t invited the crowd only a selected few that I have no doubt they knew prior to the night rn dance!!
The Afrobeats section was lit but short lived as I saw the main DJ tap the talented guy on the shoulder shortly after he took on his set.
Again this club has potentional but unfortunately they are trying too hard to be westernised they don’t listen to their crowd and produced raw fun.

I came to Akab with a group of my friends. The club itself is easy to get into, not a very long wait especially if you are a girl who is dressed up. When you first enter it is difficult to move around in because it is so crowded and congested. Entrance is around 5 euros, and coat check is around 5 also. The entrance gets you one drink, the bar is quite crowded so you may have to push your way through. There are about two different floors, four different dance floors, and two bars. Each room is different which is nice and they play different music. Though the main dancefloor, which is the biggest, is so packed you can hardly dance. There is also an incredible amount of creepy men there who feel free to grab onto you if they please while you are dancing though this is common in most of the clubs I went to in Italy. Overall it is a nice club though I suggest maybe to go on a Thursday so it is not so over packed.

This was my first time in Europe so maybe this is the norm but they don’t serve any mixed drinks. There was no bar back full of liquor bottles.. it looked more like what you would find at a backyard BBQ. All I remember being offered is vodka redbull or vodka lime soda. It wasn’t good.. However, I did like the music. They played some new stuff and 2000’s stuff (my era). It was crowded but died down very quick.. and it was extremely hot and humid in there. From what I could tell, there were a good number of tourists and not many locals (or at least not Italian locals). There were a few other bars in the area and a lot of people walking on the street. It was okay but not quite what we were going for..

I might be giving this place 5 stars because I was lit AF, but all i'm going to say is: Thursday nights with Milkshake...so turnt. It was a about 15 euros to get in but as most clubs in Rome do, it covered a drink which was nice. I would say the place didn't get packed until about 12:45am/1am, which is fine because it doesn't open until 12am anyways. The music was so live and not techno which was good, if you want some rap/hiphop/twerk music, Thursday nights is your time to shine here at Akab...and don't miss the dancers....P.S. they smoke inside so expect to go home smelling like an ashtray.

Lately too many children or inelegant people! The system has deteriorated but anyway on the last Saturday the music made my chest tremble ... Cute as they renovated it even if I preferred the Circus theme ... The staff always the same among beast tamers (how not to blame him) and people who pull it off .... Disappointing period.

A trendy place that suits any customer's interests. Outdated and arrogant staff. Quality music and great equipment, shame about the prices and the impossibility of moving given the limited space. It seems to enter a sect's club rather than a club that is up to European competitors, but are we in Rome? Not recommended!

The only club in Rome that manages, despite its limited size, to bring large international artists such as Nina Kraviz or Loco Dice to name 2. Great sound system, decent services, not cheap drinks. Fairly rigid selection at the entrance especially when there is so much turnout.

Description

Via di Monte Testaccio loops around a hill made entirely of broken terracotta amphorae, or oil jars, which were discarded by ancient Romans. Lining this historic street is a whole bunch of nightclubs, including the popular Akab club. Hosting house, rock, dance and funk and soul nights, among others, Akab has been entertaining partygoers in Rome since its opening in 1992. Check the website for details of guest DJs who have previously included Gilles Peterson and acid-jazz devotee Giancarlino.
