The clientele at La Java are slightly different every night, check the website for the type of music or theme night they are having. I went to their Balkan Night which was quite fun - there was a belly dancer, a number of people in the back of the dance floor looked like they were practicing Eastern European/Balkan dance moves that they were learning in class, and the people in the front were dancing along and many knew the lyrics to songs. It was a fun and people came here to dance.

This place is not glamorous, but a spot to go see some specific music and to dance. Depending on the music, I would go back here.

Cocktails are small and not very strong. This would be a good place to bring a flask to.

When I visit La Java I was with three of my best friends! The atmosphere in La Java is really unique. It has the best mix of the 1920 ( also because of the Art Nouveau building) and the modern time. It's not only tourists but there are also lots of locals, which I found really exiting. I would definitely recommend going there! Especially when you like electroswing ( like Parov Stelar ) kind of music.

We paid 10 euro's each for the entrance.

Two friends and I met some people headed to La Java as we were leaving the train station on a Saturday night. As we were walking there, they described it as a typical Paris club with good music and a chill crowd - it's the place where people in Paris who are more middle class would go. We got there, and I'm not sure if it was some kind of theme night, but it was definitely an interesting crowd of people dressed in interesting outfits with a serious mix of straight, gay, lesbian, transgender, etc. etc. etc. with a bit more emphasis on the eccentric. It was good for people watching, but if you are conservative in any way, this is definitely not the place for you. The locals we had met told us that it wasn't normally like that, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but perhaps have someone at your hotel call ahead and check to see what's happening there that night? Regardless, we ended up drinking and dancing until 6 a.m. so I guess we weren't having too terrible of a time!

I went here last night for the first time and had a ball! The space is very open, with one long room stretching straight back to the little stage. So as you descend the stairs and walk towards the back you move deeper and deeper in a steadily thickening crowd of dancers, which is pretty cool. Just a great place to drink pitchers of beer and dance with your friends. The unisex bathroom is a little dodgy but I'm sure it has encouraged interesting interactions at times.

It's rather an extensive venue but it feels small because its so narrow and can get so crowded. It took me like 40 minutes to get a drink at the bar which is never a good thing, so I am tempted to give it just 2 stars but I will stick with 3 because the crowd is fun and interesting--on the young, pretty, gay and alternative side. I went for the Flashcocotte party which features alternative electronica music and lots of skinny jeans!

Go for the Balkan Music nights
Dark basement bar. small beers @ $ euros with pints at 7 euros. I really like to go on the Balkan nights. Java the Balkan I believe is the name. This happens the last thursday of each month. Show at 8pm. Really fun- band has a great vibe. Nice, large booths to gather in. 5 euros entrance fee.

One of the worst place I've been to in Paris. The only thing you do there is queuing: to get in, to drop your coat, to grab a drink, to take a piss. And you'll be asked 12e to get in and listen to a below average, tasteless house music.

Big and nice looking nightclub. Usually not so crowded so you can move a little bit. Good DJs . Worth visiting

Amazing music! We were there on  Saturday night. We got there at about 1, had to pay 10 euros to enter which is okay by paris standards.  Drinks are mid range. There was a live band playing electro swing music- one of the best parties I've been to so far! Loved it!

Description

Tucked away in the basement of the shopping centre, Le Palais du Commerce, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, is a true nightlife gem. La Java is a historic place dedicated to alternative, underground and emerging new music talent. Its eclectic programming offers the opportunity to discover unique musical talent before they go live to the world – it’s the nightclub where Édith Piaf and Django Reinhardt played before they became famous, as it happens. La Java also hosts LGBT evenings regularly that are incredibly popular.
